Ar. Pandit is a trained Conservation Architect with master’s degree in architecture with specialisation in Architectural Conservation from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi and further undergone a conservation course at IUAV, Italy. He is actively working in the field of Heritage nationally and internationally since past 28 years.
Ar. Pandit was a principal consultant to government of Mauritius for preparation of World Heritage Site Nomination & Management Plan for Aaparavasi Ghat site (inscribed in 2006) and conserving & developing several other heritage sites related to indenture labour system in the country. He also provided his services in writing of the nomination of Bhojpuri Folk Songs of Mauritius, “Geet Gawai,” to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. He has evaluated several World Heritage Properties for ICOMOS and has received the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation twice.
As consultant to UNESCO, New Delhi Ar. Pandit developed World Heritage Site Serial nominations for Coral Stone Mosques of the Maldives. He was also co-Author of World Heritage Site Serial Nomination for Hill Forts of Rajasthan and authored Site Management Plan for Jaisalmer Fort (inscribed in 2013) commissioned by National Culture Fund in collaboration with Archaeological Survey of India.
